Great Pumpkin Arrives
October 23rd, 2010 (tentative)
Place: Downtown Kingsburg
"The Great Pumpkin" arrives for the Oct. 23
Swedish Village Farmer’s Market (Saturday this week only) in
downtown Kingsburg and with him comes a $1,000 prize. Selma Flea
Market is sponsoring that evening to include the prize for the
area’s biggest pumpkin, to be determined by the official weight
certified at the Selma Flea Market public scales, and a $100 prize
for a “Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest” winner. Area pumpkin growers
are urged to keep their eyes out for “The Great Pumpkin” in their
fields. It will need to be portable enough to get aboard a truck
or trailer or other type of transportation to be taken to the
Selma Flea Market scales the week of October 18th. |

Once a winner is determined and certified by officials at the
scales, the winner will be notified. The pumpkin will need to be
available by 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23 for display at the Farmer’s
Market downtown on Draper Street for the evening. A special
ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Also planned for the evening
are a number of harvest season activities, including the Pumpkin
Pie Eating Contest. Adventist Health will sponsor an appearance of
the jazz band "ZZAH" that evening.
